About RecoveryWerks
RecoveryWerks is a nonprofit recovery support center for teens, young adults and families, mainly in the rural and underserved parts of Comal County. You'll find them based near the performing arts center and a Masonic Lodge in New Braunfels, Texas.
The staff offers a blend of peer support meetings, educational sessions, group therapy and a new intensive outpatient program (IOP) specifically for adolescents. Their mission is to provide accessible and compassionate care in underserved rural communities to reduce stigma through family involvement and peer connections.
Substance Misuse Care for Youths
RecoveryWerks’ adolescent IOP is the first state-approved of its kind in Comal County and adds structure: up to nine hours per week of educational sessions, individual counseling and group therapy.
Treatment employs peer recovery support specialists and licensed chemical dependency counselors. Sessions typically pair group work and clinical counseling with family and sibling involvement, aiming to uncover underlying issues and cultivate accountability, life skills and peer connection. Reviewers say they’ve found hope, peace, and purpose through RecoveryWerks—often describing the journey as “simple, but not easy."
Peer-Driven Recovery & Community Engagement
Another strong focus is on peer support and community involvement through their Alternative Peer Group model. Adolescents and young adults join peer connections fused with clinical support, mentorship, accountability and family participation.
The group sessions and mentorship are designed to build trust and encourage long-term recovery. Typical peer-based sessions include education around addiction, relational mentoring, and accountability structures.
Credentials & Insurance Insight
RecoveryWerks features many free or low-cost support meetings. Leadership includes peer recovery support specialists plus licensed chemical dependency counselors. Most peer support services are offered at no cost; the adolescent IOP is fee-based with costs depending on service level.
