About Phoenix House Lake View Terrace
The Phoenix House Academy program is funded by Drug Medi-Cal for clients who are eligible and is supported by a contract with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health - Substance Abuse Prevention and Control. Some private insurances will also provide coverage. They serve clients who are 12 to 24 years old.
The program seeks to help youth understand that substance use disorder is not a moral failing or a personal character flaw. Many youth are self medicating because of isolation, bullying, physical abuse, and mental health disorders. By treating youth under the age of 25 they are giving clients the chance to have a healthy, happy adulthood with positive relationships.
Medically Assisted Treatment for Symptoms
I appreciate that the program offers medically assisted treatment (MAT) to help you with cravings and/or withdrawals. Medications may be necessary for any mental health diagnosis you receive.
Sober Recreational Activities
Here, you will learn how to find sober enjoyable recreational activities to replace substance use. You will participate in education workshops that teach you how to care for yourself physically and emotionally. I like that family services are also available to teach your loved ones how to improve their communication skills and support you through recovery.
Wraparound Family Services
Wraparound services for families are available for youth with an open DCFS case, youth on probation, and post adoption youth. Families are taught as a unit how to strengthen family bonds, set and achieve positive goals, and connect with needed community services.
Your family will work with a wraparound team that includes staff members, school or district representatives, relatives, friends, neighbors, and/or church members. The team provides services in the community at locations where the client is engaged.
