About Oasis Womens Recovery – Closed
Oasis Women's Sober Living Community was formerly known as the Oasis Women’s Recovery Community. They offered compassionate care to women only in Sylmar, California, to recover from substance use and trauma.
The facility was founded in 1991 by Anjanay Berrocal, who is a recovering addict. They were a federally designated nonprofit that provided a six month residential program for up to 17 women.
The facility was supported by fundraisers and donations despite its financial struggles. Self pay was available with sliding scale fees.
Healing Through Respect and Love
The facility accepted women who were pregnant or postpartum, those with HIV/AIDS and justice-involved individuals. Their family-like atmosphere fostered healing through respect and love.
Their residential program provided 24/7 care with individual and group therapy. They used treatment modalities like 12 step facilitation, anger management, substance use counseling, trauma related counseling and relapse prevention.
Helpful Workshops
You were able to attend workshops that developed life skills, parenting skills and communication. You were able to learn anger and stress management, job readiness and attend domestic violence recovery.
I like that they offer activities such as expressive arts and yoga. You were also able to participate in sober living outings. They provided a serene and distraction free environment to empower women to reclaim their lives with dignity.
Some clients praised the facility for saving their lives. It was conveniently located just off of interstate 210. Oasis Women’s Sober Living Community was not far from Veterans Memorial Community Regional Park and El Cariso Community Regional Park, where clients could spend time doing sober activities such as walking or having a picnic.
