About Lourdesmont Youth and Family Services
Lourdesmont Youth and Family Services in Scranton, Pennsylvania offers 24 hour services for those with life crises. Outreach services are delivered in homes, schools, and communities for families in need.
The center follows the principles of the Child and Adolescent Service System Program. Individuals are never discriminated against based on race, color, creed, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, limited English speaking, and handicaps. They’re run by the Sisters of the Good Shepherd, a religious women’s community.
Services Provided in Your Child’s School
School based behavioral health services take place mostly in schools but also extend into homes and communities when further locations of service are necessary. The goal is to deliver services in locations that are accessible by children and families while integrated with interventions in the schools.
Partial Hospitalization in School for Addiction Treatment
Partial hospitalization programs are delivered in public school systems for students who need an outpatient treatment program that is similar to residential treatment. Your child’s treatment will likely be more effective if your child’s life is not disrupted by treatment in a separate environment.
At the school your child will still be able to maintain associations with teachers, peers, and school counselors. Enrichment activities help students develop confidence. You will participate in your child’s treatment.
Students in the partial hospitalization program are screened for substance use. If your youth is using substances, a treatment plan for substance use therapy will be integrated into their primary treatment plan.
Mental Health Care for Families
Family based mental health care seeks to maintain parents as the primary care givers of children when family separation or out of home placement is at risk. A positive home environment is developed. Staff are on call for interventions at all times.
Parenting Training for Parents
Parents of students in treatment receive training that allows them to parent positively when making rules and consequences and rewarding good behavior. This training prevents critical interventions by improved parenting.
Therapy for Antisocial Disorders
Multisystemic therapy is a program that only offers therapy for children who exhibit antisocial behaviors. The focal point of treatment is on relationships in the family, performance in school, relationships with peers, and relationships within the community.
