About KidsPeace Berks Campus
KidsPeace’s Berks Campus in Temple, Pennsylvania, was built around the truth that sometimes kids need more support that families can give on their own. The campus provides residential treatment for children and teens who are facing emotional and behavioral challenges.
With programs ranging from hospital-level psychiatric care to long-term therapeutic living, the focus is always on helping the youth feel safe, understated and ready for the next step. KidsPeace accepts both private insurance and Medicaid and works closely with county agencies to make sure care is accessible for everyone.
Programs That Meet Kids Where They’re At
What makes Berks Campus stand out is the variety of specialized programs they offer, even for walk-ins. Some kids need short-term help after a crisis. There are others who stay longer to build coping skills and work through intense trauma. Some therapies they offer here include trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, standard cognitive behavioral therapy and applied behavioral analysis. But they also offer art and music therapy and even some fun recreation activities.
Here, kids aren’t just sitting in therapy sessions and working through trauma in a boring room. They have access to soccer fields, a swimming pool, a ropes course and even go sledding on the hills in the winter. And while these activities sound like a lot of fun, they also work on building resilience and trust in a safe environment.
Support Beyond the Child
Family involvement is another big piece of the puzzle here too. Parents and guardians are encouraged to join in therapy sessions and learn tools to help keep the child feeling supported at home. I love that this campus also provides accredited school so kids don’t fall behind academically while they focus on their recovery.
