About Heartview Foundation
The Heartview Foundation in Bismarck, North Dakota, is situated on an entire block of Broadway and houses a 13-bed residential facility, an opioid treatment program (OTP), and day treatment group rooms. The facility treats clients for the use of alcohol, opioids, heroin, methamphetamines, prescription drugs, and other illicit substances. They also treat substance use with co-occurring mental health disorders.
The facility is Joint Commission accredited and accepts all major private insurances, Medicaid, the North Dakota Substance Use Disorder Voucher and private pay. Uninsured clients can apply for assistance with the help of staff.
Treatment and Evaluation Options
Residential treatment is available for clients 18 years old and older, while outpatient treatments accept clients ages 14 years old and older. North Dakota requires clients to detox at a local emergency room or hospital.
No appointment is needed for an evaluation. Based on the number of staff available there could be very few evaluation slots available per day. A client can be evaluated at any Heartview location during walk-in hours, Monday through Thursday 8:00 am to 10:00 am.
Substance Use Disorder Treatment Options
Residential treatment lasts three to six weeks. A typical day would start with morning treatment groups, then lunch and afternoon treatment groups, followed by free-time activities. These activities could be Alcoholics Anonymous, church, board games, television, or community outings like movies or bowling. A chaplain is available for spiritual needs.
Partial hospitalization programs (PHP) are scheduled Monday through Thursday 8:30 am to 12:30 pm and Friday 8:30 am to 12 pm. Meetings cover topics such as mental health, relapse prevention, spirituality, Big Book study and tobacco cessation.
Their intensive outpatient program (IOP) involves nine hours of counseling per week over two to three days. This is offered during the day or in the evening. Individual counseling is determined by the counselor. Care groups after completion of treatment meet once per week day or evening.
Medication Treatment Options
Medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD) and medication assisted treatment (MAT) are available. These treatments can involve methadone, buprenorphine, naltrexone, or Antabuse based on the substance being used. Bismarck clients interested in medication assistance should go during walk-in hours Monday through Thursday 8:00 am to 10:00 am to the 101 East Broadway location.
