About Bryn Mawr Hospital Behavioral Health
The mental and behavioral health program of Main Line Health at Bryn Mawr Hospital is staffed with psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists, counselors, addiction specialists, and social workers to provide substance use, mental health, and co-occurring disorders treatment. It’s located in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, home of the historic Bryn Mawr University.
The hospital was founded in 1893 and can provide integrated health care as medical and behavioral care are at the same location. They accept Medicare and most commercial plans.
Inpatient Substance Use Treatment
Inpatient psychiatric care provides acute stabilization, crisis intervention, and dual diagnosis treatment. When we are experiencing anxiety and stress we need to be in a calm and peaceful environment. The treatment area you will be in has been designed to block exterior noises and replace them with ambient music and circadian lighting.
Each day you will attend therapy groups, community meetings with your peers, and meetings with members from your care team. Your care team will provide medication management and neurointervention care. Local attractions like Richard Allen Park can be conducive to relaxation and fellowship.
Referral for Partial Hospitalization Programs
After inpatient treatment is complete, you’ll likely be referred to the Mirmont Treatment Center for their partial hospitalization program (PHP). The program is structured much like your inpatient experience except you’ll go home in the evenings. You will attend group therapy and educational groups and will receive medication management services.
PHP for adolescents treats ages 14 through 17 using dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT). Each day the youth will be involved in group sessions designed to stabilize mental health. The center will collaborate with their schools while transitioning youths back into their classrooms.
Intensive Outpatient Programs
Intensive outpatient programs follow PHP. You will attend group therapy at the Mirmont Treatment Center but for fewer hours per week. The center will continue to provide medication management and symptom management while providing trauma informed care.
