About Berks TASC
Berks TASC is a substance use treatment provider based in Reading, Pennsylvania that offers addiction treatment services centrally for Berks County. It operates as a treatment access and referral agency, providing clinical assessments, drug and alcohol testing, warm hand‐off interventions, specialty court programs, recovery housing, jail treatment, and medication assisted treatment.
Clients appreciate its timely access, strong connections with courts and hospitals, and comprehensive support for justice involved individuals, especially those who are uninsured or on Medicaid.
Services in Collaboration with Courts and Social Services
Berks TASC offers a full spectrum of care including clinical assessments and intake, drug and alcohol testing, and outreach via its Warm Hand‐Off Program. They also provide specialty court programs like DUI, drug, mental health, and veterans courts, as well as residential recovery housing for Treatment Court participants, and jail based treatment with Suboxone or Vivitrol MAT and counseling. They can coordinate residential, outpatient, and detox placements depending on individual needs.
Serving Clients with Medicaid or No INsurance
Berks TASC accepts Medicaid and serves uninsured individuals through public funding and placement assistance. Many program costs are reduced or waived for eligible participants, ensuring that lack of private insurance does not block access. For privately insured clients, cost and payment are managed depending on program type, but public funding helps keep fees low or no cost in many cases.
This facility also supports individuals in jail who meet criteria such as opioid dependence, a history of relapse, or residency. Both men and women are served, including those in court recovery programs with dedicated housing.
Telehealth Sessions and Walk In Assessments
Berks TASC is located at 640 Walnut Street, Suite 101 in downtown Reading. Walk‐in clinical assessments are available Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and telehealth services are offered for those who qualify under the eligibility guidelines. Many services are also delivered via partner hospitals during off hours, especially through the Warm Hand‐Off Program.
