About Adult & Teen Challenge of Oklahoma
Adult and Teen Challenge is a multifaceted outreach and recovery program that is part of the greater Teen Challenge Christian network with a location in Stillwater, Oklahoma. It relies on a faith based approach to overcoming addiction and behavioral health needs with a mix of residential programs that are segmented by age and gender.
This particular location is for adult men ages 18 and older. Adult and Teen Challenge also incorporates a thrift store component which works to help fundraise to keep costs low for people participating in the rehabilitation program.
A Faith First Recovery Program
One core thing to remember about Adult and Teen Challenge is that it centers Christian faith in its long term treatment programs. This means that reaffirming your faith and a busy strict schedule during your stay are meant to reorient your mind and provide structure. So, if you’re struggling with severe active addiction, you should ideally get fully sober first through a more traditional detox, inpatient or outpatient program before transitioning to this one.
The adult programs typically last between a year to 18 months to ideally give you plenty of time to avoid the temptation of relapse. During your time in the program you will have a significant focus on evangelism and learning how to apply the Bible’s teachings to your daily life.
A Work Recovery Approach
While therapy sessions are part of the Adult and Teen Challenge process, the core focus centers on both religious teaching and work skills to help you secure gainful employment when you finish the program. This includes supervised work at the Stillwater residence as well as the ability to work with the Adult and Teen Challenge thrift stores that are located nearby.
Donations cover operational costs. However, there’s an induction fee to the program, and regular tuition fees are charged once participants join work programs.
