A Florida behavioral health provider gets to expand short-term residential addiction treatment care for adults who can’t wait weeks for help. David Lawrence Centers for Behavioral Health in Naples received a $250,000 grant from the Holecek Family Foundation to support its Crossroads program.
It’s timely. Addiction treatment centers regularly turn away uninsured patients but the grant promises immediate stabilization for people in crisis.
The Grant
Crossroads is a short-term inpatient program for up to 18 adults with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. The program runs two to five weeks with daily programming, therapy and educational modules delivered by a multidisciplinary team. Participants receive care from psychiatric evaluations all the way to aftercare planning.
The need is measurable. In 2025, nearly 270 participants went through Crossroads. David Lawrence Centers serves a high number of uninsured patients in Southwest Florida.
“Funding from the Foundation will allow more individuals to access immediate stabilization and begin their recovery journey,” noted Maggie Baldwin, DLC’s Chief Development Officer.
David Lawrence Centers has served Southwest Florida for 55+ years. Its 2024 Sound Minds fundraiser brought in $1.5 million.
Residential Addiction Treatment
Short-term residential programs like Crossroads suit folks who need 24-hour medical oversight but not long-term placement. These are those with an acute crisis, stepping down from medical detox or whose home environment makes early recovery unsafe.
Typical programming combines therapies and motivational interviewing with life-skills work and a written aftercare plan. Two to five weeks is enough time to stabilize and connect to outpatient follow-up.
