New Addiction Treatment Center Opens for Oregon Youth

A new addiction treatment center in Oregon is now open and ready to serve, and it’s specifically designed for the youth group who needs it most. 4D Recovery, a free drop-in recovery center for young adults, opened its doors in Medford on Court Street.

While The Beaver State has long featured many inpatient centers and walk-in clinics for all age groups impacted by substance abuse, advocates in Southern Oregon have argued that a resource like 4D has been missing for years. Now, young adults in Medford have access to critical care for recovery.

Young Adults in Oregon Need This Now

Oregon consistently ranks among the highest states in the nation for substance use among young people. Despite some new centers, an estimated 17,000 Oregon youth have substance use disorders, and roughly 90% of them aren’t receiving any treatment. That gap between need and care, especially given other cuts in funding, is exactly what 4D Recovery aims to close.

“This is a space that I wish I had as a young person,” said Camille Ireland-Esquivel, a staff member at 4th Dimension Recovery Center. “We just want people to come down and check us out.”

The center, located at 1024 Court Street, Suites A and B, is funded through Oregon’s Measure 110, the state’s voter-approved drug policy reform law. The Medford program operates as a drop-in model, which the state’s Alcohol and Drug Policy Commission has identified as a key strategy in its five-year substance use plan.

Youth Substance Use and Signs of Addiction

Substance use disorders among young adults can involve alcohol, cannabis, opioids and stimulants. Because the adolescent brain is still developing, young people are especially vulnerable to addiction. This means patterns can form faster and run deeper than in adults.

Common signs of addiction in teens and young adults include withdrawing from friends, family, or activities they once enjoyed; changes in sleep, appetite, or hygiene; declining school or work performance; unexplained mood swings or irritability; and secretive behavior around how they spend time or money. If you notice these signs in a young person you care about, early support is critical.

Drop-in recovery centers like 4D Recovery offer a low-barrier first step with no appointment, no insurance required. These factors make care accessible for young people who might not seek out traditional addiction treatment options.

Entering a Drop-In Addiction Recovery Center

Unlike inpatient rehab or formal outpatient programs, a drop-in center provides a welcoming space where individuals can access peer support, case management referrals and community connection on their own schedule. These centers serve people at any point in their recovery journey. It doesn’t matter if someone has just decided to get sober or has been in recovery and needs ongoing support.

For Oregon families looking for a starting point, a drop-in center can also be a way to learn about other and next steps in treatment.
