Conewago Snyder is a short- and long-term residential treatment facility for those who are suffering from drug addiction. Located in Beavertown, Pennsylvania, it offers an alternative to hospital treatment, which can be stifling and restrictive. The center is in the heart of Snyder County, offering an idyllic atmosphere with a close proximity to the Bald Eagle State Forest, White Mountain Wild Area, Middle Creek, and several State Game Land areas. For those who need to commute from Harrisburg, it’s a pleasant one-hour drive along beautiful country roads.

Conewago Snyder is licensed by both the Pennsylvania Department of Drug and Alcohol and the Joint Commission, meaning that you’ll be getting some of the best care available in the state. The facility offers 99 inpatient beds for patients who need more intensive care, including a 40-bed sequestered women’s yet to provide female patients with a feeling of safety. Both men and women over the ages of 18 can take part in treatment here.

Drug and alcohol addiction treatment is offered at Conewago Snyder, meaning that you can get help for a number of different vices, including heroin, prescription painkillers, fentanyl, cocaine, meth, and more. In particular, Conewago Snyder will help you reduce your chemical dependency so that you can return to a normal lifestyle.

As a part of the Firetree, Ltd. system of care, the Conewago Snyder facility uses only evidence-based treatment modules to help its patients. In particular, it takes the Recovery Oriented Systems of Care (ROSC) approach. By using ROSC along with various methods of therapy and counseling, patients are able to improve their level of functioning and have complete support during the recovery process.

With the mission statement “Together building a new way of life,” Conewago Snyder goes above and beyond other treatment programs. The staff of the facility will work as a team to provide you with progressive programs that will change your way of thinking so that you can avoid drug-seeking behaviors. In fact, the facility believes that change is possible as long as your take personal responsibility for your flaws and work to be accountable for your mistakes.

As a 99-bed inpatient facility, Conewago Snyder caters to the needs of both men and women over the age of 18. 40 of those beds are in a sequestered women’s unit, giving ladies the privacy and security they need to feel safe in a mixed facility. Beds are bunk-style and housed in large bedrooms to encourage a feeling of community. There are also separate men’s and women’s lounges to give both sexes the space they need to recover without any distractions. You can relax on one of the couches or sit at a table to read a book or write in your journal.

The facility also includes a number of recreational opportunities, such as green space for playing sports like baseball or soccer. There are basketball courts, volleyball courts, and ping-pong tables on-site, meaning there will always be something to keep your busy. Inside the facility, there’s a piano for musically inclined guests, as well televisions in the lounges so that you can stay up to date with the latest news or your favorite shows. Conewago Snyder does everything it can to help you feel right at home, with little touches like lamps and wall art to keep you happy.

Visits from family members and friends are also highly encouraged, and Conewago Snyder has specific meeting rooms for these occasions. Here, you’ll be able to get words of support from your loved ones to help you stay motivated while in treatment.

Conewago Snyder also has a cafeteria that serves regular meals, as well as laundry facilities and products that you can use as frequently as you desire. Bathrooms are also included for each dorm room, featuring separate shower stalls and numerous sinks so that you won’t feel cramped or violated while getting clean.

The entire Conewago Snyder campus is surrounded by greenery, meaning you’ll be able to feel at peace in the environment. The soothing sound of leaves blowing in the wind and birds chirping happily will be a wondrous backdrop for your recovery. As the facility is quite isolated, it’s the perfect setting for reflecting on your past and committing to a better and brighter future.

Conewago Snyder bases its therapy on the modified therapeutic community model. What does that mean? It means that you’ll be able to receive evidence-based therapies like motivational enhancement therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy all in a group setting. In addition to all of this, you’ll benefit from supportive life skills training, peer support, and social skills training to prepare you for reintegration into society.

When you first arrive at the facility, staff members will work with you to develop a comprehensive plan of treatment. This will create measurable and achievable goals for your stay at the facility, as well as the frequency and type of rehabilitative services you’ll need. Your treatment and rehabilitation plan might also cover support services, like psychiatric, psychological, economic, legal, or medical assistance.

Once that’s been established, you’ll be welcomed into the community with a number of daily group activities. These can include community meetings, goal setting groups, positive affirmation groups, and inventory groups. You’ll also be invited to regular peer review groups and work therapy sessions.

Conewago Snyder also offers several different kinds of treatment groups to help you at various stages of recovery. In a traditional group setting, you’ll be encouraged to vocalize the negative consequences of your addiction to help increase your awareness of your problems. This will provide you with the needed motivation to make changes in your life.

Relapse court is a different kind of group in which you develop a plan to prevent relapse. A “court” comprised of your peers will review your plan and hold you accountable in case you end up failing. This way, you can get feedback on your strengths and weaknesses in order to increase your chances of staying sober.

Small process groups are slightly more intense meetings that allow a counselor to focus on more in-depth issues. These differ from co-occurring disorders groups, which focus on the various factors that contribute to people with dual diagnosis. Finally, gender groups offer therapy tailored to the experiences of each sex.

If you need even more of a structured environment, Conewago Snyder also has several in-house 12-step meetings that you can attend. These programs bring in outside speakers twice a week and meet on a regular basis.

Conewago Snyder specializes in a number of different areas to help provide patients with the skills they need to successfully reenter the community. For example, the facility has a large life skills curriculum program where participants can learn a number of different things to help them excel at getting a job, making new friends, and running their household. You might be able to take classes in employment preparation, job placement assistance, basic computer skills, practical money skills, and household management. Overall, the program is meant to provide the framework for breaking barriers.

Another area of interest for Conewago Snyder is education on addiction. Patients at the facility will have access to a number of chemical dependency education resources, including separate groups for drugs and alcohol. Patients can also learn to give back to the world by participating in community service. This type of act can take away from a lot of the pressures of self-reflection and instead help you do something to benefit someone else.

In addition to its normal group and community therapies, Conewago Snyder also offers a number of specialized programs for minority groups. These include special programs for lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender clients, veterans, military families, seniors, people with HIV or AIDS, trauma victims, or domestic abuse survivors.

If you’re a smoker, Conewago Snyder has a program to help you curb that deadly habit – though smoking is permitted in designated areas throughout the facility. You’ll also be able to take advantage of a number of services to ensure you aren’t continuing to abuse drugs, such as breath analyzer or blood alcohol testing, drug or alcohol urine screening, and screening for various forms of substance abuse. If you have any fears of disease, Conewago Snyder can test you for STDs, TV, HIV, hepatitis C, and hepatitis B. If you do have any of these issues, the facility will do its best to provide you with the education and support you need to battle through them without compromising its commitment to your overall substance abuse.

Naturally, the staff at Conewago Snyder is comprised of some of the best professionals in the field of addiction therapy. During your stay, you’ll be treated by knowledgeable and caring doctors, therapists, counselors, and more. Everyone involved in your care will do their best to ensure you avoid relapse and go on to live a fruitful and productive life.

Additionally, all of Conewago Snyder’s employees are bound by a drug- and alcohol-free workplace policy to ensure that you’ll have no temptation during your stay. Each employee is tested for drug use by an independent, third-party laboratory before being hired. If it is discovered that an employee does have a substance abuse problem, they’ll be allowed to take a 12-week leave of absence while they receive treatment.

The company also has a strong, zero-tolerance policy against sexual abuse and harassment, meaning that you’ll be completely safe when staying here. All employees will be held accountable for their actions, and you can easily file a complaint at any time by contacting the PREA coordinator via mail, email, or through the company’s website. In addition to abuse, Firetree is also against workplace violence, and reserves the right to inspect any staff member’s locker or personal belongings to ensure the safety of the community.

Conewago Snyder is led by a team of corporate staff with years of experience in the field. As the president of Firetree, William C. Brown makes all of the most important decisions when it comes to patient care and facility usage. Amy Ertel is the vice president and is his second in command. Ron Magargle acts as the chief operating officer, while Scott Snyder is the director of administration. Tammy Bubb handles the company’s finances as the corporate accountant, while James Desanto manages the clinical side of things as the corporate clinical director.

I knew I needed serious help when my addiction started to interfere with my work and my family. After a few tries, I quickly realized that I needed an inpatient treatment center to help me stop using. That is when I found Conewago Snyder. Their doctors help me with my physical health and gave me the medications I needed to get through withdrawal, while their counselors and therapists gave me the necessary tools to deal with the awful cravings. They also helped me through what I’d done while I was using.

All of the staff were friendly and helpful. I don’t think I met a single person there that wasn’t kind. Also, unlike some facilities, Conewago always had something for me to do so I didn’t dwell on the way I was feeling. Their recreational facilities, therapy programs, and other activities helped me to get over all of the anxiety and depression and their staff was always on hand to talk to me if I needed it. From the time that I got there to the time that I left I felt that everyone there was interested in helping me end my addiction.

As a member of the LGBT community, I was worried that seeking treatment for my drug addiction was going to be hard. I called Conewago Snyder because I knew I needed help. What I didn’t realize is that they have a program that is specifically meant for my community. The person that I spoke with was very friendly and treated me like a person instead of just a paycheck. They outlined their specific programs that would meet my needs like the counseling that they offer that specializes in the problems that I face as a member of a minority. Their inpatient treatment program sounds like it will treat all aspects of my life so that when I leave I will be able to improve my life. They even told me about what my meals would be like and gave me a daily rundown of what I would be doing if I went there. This is the complete treatment program I was looking for.

My stay at Conewago Snyder was an interesting one. This was my first time in rehab and I didn’t know what to expect. When I arrived, I was pleasantly surprised with the surroundings. I expected really dingy surroundings, this was not the case. The first people I talked to were nice and helped me decide which treatments were right for me and which would work the best. Then they showed me to my room and made sure that I was comfortable. This place was everything they promised it would be. They really did help me stop my addiction and get my life back on track. I was never bored and never felt alone. Between the activities they had and the counseling sessions, I was always busy
