Valhalla Place Brooklyn Park provides confidential, quality treatment for the body, mind and spirit. We not only offer pharmaceutical therapy through medications such as methadone and buprenorphine, we also offer mental health services, substance abuse counseling, and couples and family counseling.
We accept funding from County Administered Rule 25 (Consolidated Chemical Dependency Treatment Fund), State of Minnesota Medical Assistance (MA), and we also work with many types of insurance. Our helpful support staff will determine the benefits and coverage of your specific plan.
At Valhalla Place Brooklyn Park, our comforting and welcoming facility offers high-quality, intensive outpatient treatment for opiate addiction. Patients can opt for Medication-Assisted Treatment in our outpatient program, or choose to enroll in the program without also receiving methadone or buprenorphine treatment.
The intake process begins with a chemical health assessment designed to determine how your substance abuse is impacting your body, brain, and overall quality of life. During the chemical assessment, a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor conducts a 90-minute session where the patient is asked about their relationships, their physical and mental health, their substance abuse history, and their current living situation, using nationally-accepted standards for identifying patterns of substance abuse and dependence.
The information gathered during this session allows the counselor to determine the severity of addiction concerns, and which types of treatment interventions would be most beneficial. Then the counselor can make an informed treatment plan recommendation based on the patient’s unique needs.
In the chemical health assessment session, you will be asked to provide the names of other people who can offer their own perspective on your substance abuse history. This is a necessary step for any credible chemical health assessment. Before the assessor can speak to these people, you must sign a document to indicate your consent. This document does not give the assessor permission to share any personal information about you beyond the fact that you are completing a chemical health assessment and have granted the assessor permission to speak to others about their observation concerning your chemical use.

Methadone is one of the medications used at Valhalla Place Brooklyn Park on an outpatient basis. Methadone has been effectively used to treat opiate dependence for over forty years by preventing withdrawal symptoms and diminishing drug cravings. To achieve optimum results, patients must regularly attend the clinic for medication and medical services, along with family education, mental health therapy and counseling. Each element of the program works together to encourage a healthy lifestyle free of drug abuse.
Valhalla Place Brooklyn Park also provides Suboxone for Medication-Assisted Treatment. Since 2002, Suboxone has been used to counteract opiate withdrawal symptoms and drug cravings. It also works as a “block” to prevent the high from other opiates in case of relapse. Used on an outpatient basis, Suboxone can be prescribed to patients as a take-home medication, or used in conjunction with a comprehensive treatment program tailored to individual patient need. Just as with methadone, medication treatment alone is not enough for a successful recovery, so Suboxone should ideally be paired with mental health therapy, addiction counseling, family education and medical services.
Valhalla Place Brooklyn Park delivers confidential, supportive treatment for the whole person, which includes psychiatric care and counseling for mental health issues as well as opiate addiction.
