New Perspectives at White Deer Run bases its services around the understanding of addiction as a chronic, primary, progressive disease that is destructive, not only to the life of the individual with substance use disorder, but to their family, friends, and community. Our understanding of the various ways that substance misuse impacts all areas of a person’s life motivates us to deliver truly comprehensive care designed to treat each patient’s physical, spiritual, emotional, and mental needs.

Addiction recovery is a lifelong journey, and New Perspectives at White Deer Run supports this journey with an integrated, holistic treatment approach that utilizes philosophies of effective mental health and addiction recovery care. We believe that addiction treatment must honor the individual history of our patients, giving them a voice, and allowing them to participate in the treatment experience. We also encourage other allies to get involved in the patient’s recovery, such as primary care physicians, family members, close friends, spiritual advisers, and employers.

The cost of treatment at New Perspectives at White Deer Run depends upon many different factors that vary between patients, as addiction recovery is an extremely personal experience. Factors involved include, but are not limited to, the nature of the patient’s primary addiction, the severity of the problem, the presence of any co-occurring disorders, and the duration of treatment.

Treatment duration may last for only a few days, or as long as several months. Research has shown that the longer a patient remains in drug rehab treatment, the greater their chances are of achieving long-term sobriety. Determining what each patient’s ideal length of stay might be involves evaluating everyone on a case by case basis. Our goal is to give each individual we treat their best chance at recovery success.

The admissions advisors at New Perspectives at White Deer Run are always happy to work with prospective patients to give them an accurate idea of the cost of their individual addiction treatment. We don’t want financial concerns to keep anyone from seeking out the rehabilitative treatment they need to transform their lives. We work closely with individuals without insurance, and/or who will be using Pennsylvania county funding to cover the cost of care. We want to provide everyone in need with quality treatment at a price they can afford.

Prospective patients can call New Perspectives at White Deer Run to find out about HealthChoices and other means of paying for rehabilitation treatment at our facility. Specialities

New Perspectives at White Deer Run understands the nature of addiction, and uses that understanding to inform our treatment practices. If an individual repeatedly misuses a substance, their body will adapt, becoming accustomed to the presence of that substance. Whenever they attempt to quit using, their brain and body react with a range of unpleasant withdrawal symptoms, while their system attempts to normalize itself and resume normal functioning.

The detox and withdrawal process is the first step in addiction recovery. Withdrawal symptoms can range from uncomfortable to very dangerous. Persons struggling with substance use disorders are advised not to attempt to detox without professional help. Experiencing withdrawal on their own increases an individual’s chance of relapse, as they know that using again will relieve their suffering. Withdrawing alone can also be dangerous, as some symptoms may necessitate prompt medical treatment.

New Perspectives at White Deer Run knows how challenging, uncomfortable, and even frightening it can be to withdraw from drugs or alcohol, which is why we offer a medically-monitored detoxification program. Our specialized detox program helps individuals start off on their recovery journey by assisting their withdrawal from substances such as:

  • Sedatives and hypnotics, including benzodiazepines
  • Alcohol
  • Opioids like prescription narcotics and illicit drugs like heroin

Patients at New Perspectives at White Deer Run meet daily with the facility’s medical team, who monitor the patients’ withdrawal symptoms and vital signs, providing relieving medications as needed. This close, daily monitoring allows for a safe detoxification process with a minimum of withdrawal symptoms. The detox program is available to men and women 18 and older, and usually lasts for five days.

Other treatment interventions begin at this time, with detoxing patients who are able to participate being encouraged to attend therapeutic recreation, psychoeducation groups, small group counseling, and 12-step meetings. New Perspectives at White Deer Run considers the 12-step model to be an important part of our comprehensive addiction treatment program, and we urge our clients to attend NA, AA, and other 12-step meetings both during their time in our residential treatment program, and after, as a part of their continuing aftercare recovery plan.

The caring staff at New Perspectives at White Deer Run understand that the thought of entering a detox program can be intimidating to some prospective patients, and that knowledge helps us improve the services we provide. Our extensive experience with guiding patients through detox allows us to provide new patients with the safest, most comfortable withdrawal possible.
