Summit Oaks has a long history of treating both psychiatric and substance abuse patients. The hospital began in 1902 and has been in continuous operation ever since.

The inpatient and outpatient treatment centers are located at 19 Prospect Street in Summit New Jersey which is easily accessible from Interstate 74 and Highway 24 and the Lincoln Tunnel as well as the George Washington Bridge and Holland Tunnel from New York City. They offer free crisis interventions, assessments, referrals, and admissions when necessary.

During the partial hospitalization program, you go through a medical detoxification and then transfer to an outpatient program. During their outpatient treatment program you receive the same therapy but through either a day program or a series of appointments managed by a case manager. The outpatient treatment option allows you to continue to work, go to school, and take care of your family obligations. The outpatient program provides:

  • An alumni group that can help you through situations and times where you might relapse
  • Assessment and evaluation of your needs and goals
  • Family therapy or therapy for and with your loved ones
  • Group therapy
