About

Mirmont Treatment Center is a cutting edge facility located in beautiful Media, Pennsylvania. This large campus offers a vast variety of drug and alcohol treatment services. They were established 25 years ago on the belief that addiction is a disease that needs intensive treatment and therapy. Although it all began as an inpatient treatment facility for alcoholics, it expanded rapidly to encompass almost all addictions and co-occurring psychiatric disorders. They offer both residential inpatient treatment, outpatient treatment, and partial inpatient treatment.

By treating each addiction and person as an individual in need of help, they can focus on compassion, excellence, service, mindfulness, and the reduction of addictive behaviors. What was once a single clinic is now part of the Main Line Health Services consortium and draws off the services that the larger entity of Main Line can provide. This combination allows Mirmont to provide emergency services and insurance acceptance through the larger nonprofit corporation.

Since their inception, Mirmont has helped thousands of people through the roughest part of their addiction and treatment by providing comprehensive holistic care. They have a foundation in holistic healing and 12 step resourcefulness. Their staff believes in treating the mind, body, and spirit of each individual until each aspect is healthy and happy.

Their spacious facility offers treatment for all forms of addiction including:

  • Alcohol
  • Non-prescription opiates such as heroin
  • Prescription opiates
  • Other prescription drugs such as ADHD medications and stimulants as well as benzodiazepines
  • Cocaine addiction
  • Methamphetamine addiction
  • Co-occurring disorders
  • Many others

They use the one day at a time philosophy in order to help those addicted to drugs or alcohol gain an understanding of themselves, their health, and their freedom from addiction.

Amenities

Most treatment centers are now taking a more holistic approach. Mirmont is different in that it started with a holist person center approach to drug addiction treatment. This begins with some of the amenities offered at this campus. These amenities are not just bonuses but are part of a more complete holist approach to addiction treatment.

The Mirmont campus is placed on 33 acres of beautiful forested hills. It has gardens for relaxation and gardening to promote wellness. These gardens act as both meditation gardens and to provide fresh vegetables for the clients and staff. Athletic fields and greens promote physical health along side the fully equipped fitness center.

The rooms are furnished with views of the gardens as well as private bathrooms for comfort. Each room suits two people and is furnished in warm and aesthetic fashion. Dining is communal with appointed tables. There are sunrooms, recreation rooms, and other relaxation facilities.

In keeping with their philosophy of healing the mind, body, and spirit, Mirmont offers many amenities that focus on health, fitness, and nutrition. Many people choose to take full advantage of the amenities offered to help you in your treatment goals.

This 111 bed facility offers:

  • Gardening and outdoor therapy
  • Nutrition counseling as well as nutritious meals
  • Snacks and drinks throughout the day
  • Fitness counseling and access to the fitness center
  • On-site bookstore and library
  • Access to the beautiful grounds
  • Relaxation and meditation therapy
  • Art and music therapy

Each of these is available to all of the residents. The grounds, therapy rooms, and communal areas are accessible to the outpatient clients as well as those in inpatient treatment. By taking advantage of the amenities available you can ease the withdrawal symptoms in simple yet definable ways.

A case manager who will also suggest health, fitness, and dietary help will construct your overall treatment program. They can put you in touch with each of these services as they coordinate the rest of your care. Although not completely necessary for treatment, the amenities can not only make your stay a more comfortable one, they can help you to relax, practice mindfulness, and recover more quickly than you would without them.

Therapy

Mirmont offers inpatient detoxification with a minimum of a five day stay. This is the least amount of time that you can detoxify from drugs or alcohol. Although each person is different, the average detoxification therapy stay is 7 to 14 days.

Some of the treatment types offered on the Mirmont campus are:

  • Inpatient or residential therapy – inpatient therapy takes place on out 33 acre campus with access to the fitness facility, bookstore, and dining hall. This is perfect for detoxification and treatment. All you have to bring in yourself, clothing, and toiletries.
  • Outpatient or non-residential therapy – outpatient therapy can be scheduled daily, weekly, monthly, or however else your schedule allows. It gives you access to our counselors, doctors, and facility.
  • Partial hospitalization therapy – this is a combination of inpatient and outpatient therapy.
  • Driving while under the Influence treatment programs – this is the mandatory treatment for those convicted of DUI or DWI and can consist of both inpatient or outpatient therapies.
  • Psychiatric evaluation and medication – all treatment programs begin with a thorough psychiatric and medical evaluation where any psychiatric medications, management medications, and supportive medications are prescribed.
  • Suboxone maintenance therapy – Suboxone is a combination of buprenorphine and naloxone. Like methadone, Suboxone prevents or treats opiate withdrawal while treating chronic pain. You can stay on Suboxone for an extended time if necessary.
  • Group therapy – there is a benefit to hearing the stories of other addicts and telling your own story. You can do this in group therapy, which can help to alleviate the loneliness, and isolation that addiction can bring.
  • Individual therapy – individual therapy is one on one treatment where you work with a therapist or counselor to find the cause of your addiction, treat the consequences, and learn to avoid future problems with addiction.
  • Family therapy – addiction is known as a social or family disease. Family therapy can help repair the damage that your addiction did to your close relationships. It does this by giving your family members access to counseling and relationship counseling between you and your family members.
  • Mindfulness therapy – part of the corner stone treatment at Mirmont mindfulness therapy teaches you awareness of situation that can cause relapse or trigger cravings. This therapy also helps you in the rest of your life. When you practice mindfulness, you are more aware of your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.

Each of these therapies is available in conjunction with the others at Mirmont to help you find a more complete treatment program. You can combine therapies to make sure that you are getting the most out of your treatment experience.

The belief that there is more than one way to manage pain and a way that does not involve the use of dangerous opiates is part of the Mirmont treatment program for opiate addiction. It seeks to reduce side effects and other of the more severe problems with using narcotics as a chronic treatment.
  • Individualized treatment plans – a personalized treatment approach is best for realizing your goals. Mirmont can provide the individualized treatment plan that you need by drawing from the vast resources of their parent company to make sure that you get everything you need to heal your mind, body, and spirit.
  • Intensive outpatient treatment – if your life does not allow an inpatient detox and treatment program, the intensive outpatient treatment program can help. If you have family you need to care for, work, or school the intensive outpatient program can allow you to receive treatment on your terms.
  • Relapse prevention programs – the relapse prevention program can help you to make sure that you do not fall back into drug or alcohol addiction. The program combines mindfulness education, relaxation techniques, stress reduction techniques, as well as continuing care to make sure that you stay on track with the program.

The key to all of these specialty programs is mindfulness and a holistic approach. This is the cornerstone of Mirmont treatment. Mindfulness is the act of focusing on one thing at a time and being mindful of what you are doing and feeling at any given time. It can assist you in daily tasks, knowing when you need help and asking for it as well as learning to take the time out for yourself that you need each day. This practice is centuries old but is only now being applied to addiction science. Mindfulness include practicing relaxation techniques, meditation, deep breathing, and task oriented behaviors.

I was an addict a long time before I found Mirmont Treatment Center. I am so glad that I did. They are different from many other centers. Their holistic and mindful approach to my addiction was the perfect way for me to go through detoxification. Between gardening and exploring the 33 acres that the facility is on, I barely had time to think about what I was going through. Not only is the location great but the staff is wonderful also. Everyone I met seemed interested in making me feel at home and as comfortable as I could be. They focus on overall health rather than constantly reminding you about your addiction. As I said, I was an addict and now I am in recovery thanks to Mirmont.

Calling the Mirmont Treatment Center was the best thing that I ever did. They have a holistic treatment program that is perfect for my addiction. Although I understand that they have to ask a lot of personal often embarrassing questions, the girl I spoke with was tactful and pleasant.

When I called Mirmont, I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. They seem to have everything. The person that I talked to really seemed to understand what I was going though. She explained all of the programs to me and made sure that I understood what my options were. It was surprising to find someone so knowledgeable and patient.
